For immediate release
Ex Libris Port Fairy are pleased to announce their program of events for the weekend of September 6-8, 2013.
Tricia Smith, Chairperson of the Ex Libris Committee for 2013, says ‘This year the Committee has focussed on fashion and crime as the themes for this year’s literary events with a couple of other themes included. We have invited speakers from across Australia to attend our literary weekend. We are thrilled that so many writers will visit Port Fairy, encouraging locals and visitors alike to learn more about writing’.
Authors, Writers, Exhibitions, Lunches, Second Hand Book Sale and Workshops will form the basis of the weekend with a focus on local and visiting writers. As in past years, there will be something for young and older visitors alike.
Justin D’Ath, children’s author, will be at the Port Fairy Library on Saturday, 7 September at 10.00am to entertain children and their parents. Justin will share many stories in his talk entitled ‘Books, Adventures and Crocodiles’. Justin has written more than 40 books and will be very popular with the children. This event is a free event.
On the crime front, Simon Illingworth, a former detective, will give insight into Melbourne’s gangland war and the ugly world of police corruption. Simon has appeared on the ABC television program Australian Story. His book ‘Filthy Rat’ is an Australian bestseller.
Those interested in fashion will be able to meet former Vogue Australia editor and journalist, Kirstie Clements who has recently written a book ‘The Vogue Factor’. This event will include lunch at the Victoria Hotel and some fashion surprises. Bookings to the Hotel for tables are essential.
The extremely large Ex Libris Book Sale will occur in the Drill Hall. This year there will be 8 booksellers in attendance in the Drill Hall selling antiquarian and collectable books. Also on sale will be a range of children’s books and novels.
Further details about the program will be announced in the next week or so.
