John Englezos, Melbourne's current 2015 Poetry Slam Champion

John Englezos, Melbourne's current 2015 Poetry Slam Champion, is to be the star attraction at Ex Libris’ Poetry Slam at the Wishart Gallery, Port Fairy on 10 September between 8 and 10pm.

A regular contributor to the Melbourne poetry scene, John has featured at TedX St Kilda, Melbourne’s World Refugee Day Rally, White Night 2016 and Multicultural Arts Victoria's showcase 'Common Ground' for the Emerging Writer's Festival.

John’s work centres on notions of hope, identity and wonder. He uses humour, pathos and pace to keep his audience enthralled and enchanted.

He has mentored and run workshops for creative people in the fields of live performance and the visual arts. He is also a freelance photographer and is currently writing his first book.

John will be joined by other local poets and spoken word artists and anyone else who would
like to take part. Entry is free and there will be food and drink to buy.

Gareth Colinton, who is organising the poetry slam, said: “We’re thrilled that John’s coming!”
